We are seeking a detail-oriented Financial Risk Specialist to join our team and support day-to-day risk monitoring, control testing, and reporting activities that help the business identify and manage financial risk exposures.

Job Description

We are looking for a Financial Risk Specialist to support credit, market, liquidity, and operational risk monitoring across the company.

As a Financial Risk Specialist at Atomeocean, you will produce recurring risk reports, track key risk indicators (KRIs) against thresholds, test controls, and surface anomalies so the business can identify and manage its financial risk exposures.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly risk reports (credit exposure, liquidity position, control breaches).
  • Pull and reconcile risk data from internal systems, spreadsheets, and vendor feeds.
  • Support the control testing process by completing standard test scripts and documenting evidence.
  • Maintain risk registers, issue logs, and key risk indicator (KRI) trackers.
  • Monitor exception queues and escalate breaches of policy limits.
  • Respond to routine questions from business stakeholders about risk policies, limits, and reporting.
  • Participate in cross-functional risk projects following standard risk-management workflows.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Accounting, or a related field.
  • More than two years of professional experience in financial risk management, credit analysis, audit / advisory, or quantitative analytics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for risk data organization, reporting, and scenario / stress analysis.
  • Proficiency with SQL and at least one BI tool (Tableau or Power BI).
  • Experience working with risk or finance systems (e.g., ERP/GL systems or risk-management platforms).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills in both Mandarin and English.
  • Ability to collaborate with team members in a remote work environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Progress toward FRM, CFA, PRM, CPA, or an MBA.
  • Exposure to Python or R for risk-model automation and statistical analysis.
  • Experience in a high-growth technology, financial services, or cross-border services business.

Preferred But Not Required

All preferred qualifications are optional and are not minimum requirements for the position.

These preferred skills do not increase the complexity of the offered position and do not elevate the wage level.

Wage Level Justification

This posting is classified using the worksheet method from the DOL's 2009 Prevailing Wage Determination Policy Guidance (see Wage Level Determination). Baseline occupation: Financial Risk Specialists (O*NET-SOC 13-2054.00), Job Zone 4 — experience range over 2 and up to 4 years; usual education: Bachelor's degree.

Compared with the Level I posting, this posting adds two minimum requirements:

  • Experience (Step 2): more than two years of professional experience falls in the low end of the Job Zone 4 range (over 2 and up to 4 years), adding +1 — the guidance's own Job Zone 4 example scores a Software Engineer requirement of 3 years (low end of the range) at +1.
  • Special skills (Step 4): Mandarin-English bilingual communication is a foreign-language requirement, generally treated as a special skill, adding +1 — the guidance's own example scores a customer service position requiring Chinese-English bilingual skills at +1.

The required Excel, SQL, and BI-tool skills are covered by the occupation's O*NET Tasks and Technology Skills baseline, so they add no Step 4 points. The FRM / CFA / PRM / CPA certifications and the MBA are listed under Preferred Skills only; preferred qualifications are not minimum requirements and do not score, so the education requirement remains the occupation's usual Bachelor's degree (Step 3 +0).
